Centered at<\/p>\n<p>39\u00ba 32 N -3\u00ba 21\u00b4E. Tirez lake is a seasonal lake of endorreic origin such that for most of the year it is composed of a sun baked, dry surface of deposited salt (NaCl) covering sources of underground water. The vivid red colour is due to high contents of ferric iron. Within this extreme arid and saline environment a wide biodiversity exists comprised of photosinthetizers and extreme halophilic bacteria. This environment provides a good analogue for chloride deposits on Mars, such as the layered deposits discovered at the North Pole.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_23\" style=\"width: 335px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/auditore.cab.inta-csic.es\/europlanet\/files\/2015\/10\/Tirez_2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23\" src=\"http:\/\/auditore.cab.inta-csic.es\/europlanet\/files\/2015\/10\/Tirez_2.png\" alt=\"Closed view of the salt deposits\" width=\"325\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-23\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Closed view of the salt deposits<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Last studies as JRA1 activity has been conducted at T\u00b4irez lake for offering this field site for external users access during the following two year of the project.<\/p>\n<p>Location<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/auditore.cab.inta-csic.es\/europlanet\/files\/2015\/10\/Screenshot_2017-01-26-08-31-30.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-66\" src=\"http:\/\/auditore.cab.inta-csic.es\/europlanet\/files\/2015\/10\/Screenshot_2017-01-26-08-31-30.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Activities<\/p>\n<p>Tirez lake is an Earth Analogue for Jupiter,s Europa Moon as well as for some locations with salt depositions on Mars surface.
