Doing so will give you the opportunity to contact the JWST Help Desk to resolve any installation issues prior to the start of the workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ACTION # 1<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Create a<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/proper.stsci.edu\/proper\/authentication\/auth\"> <\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/proper.stsci.edu\/proper\/authentication\/auth\">MyST account<\/a> to access the <a href=\"https:\/\/jwst.etc.stsci.edu\">JWST Exposure Time Calculator<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ACTION # 2<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;Installation of Software:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Astronomer Proposal Tool<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.stsci.edu\/scientific-community\/software\/astronomers-proposal-tool-apt\">APT<\/a>): for the preparation and submission of JWST proposals.<\/li><li><strong>Target Visibility Tools<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.stsci.edu\/jwst\/science-planning\/proposal-planning-toolbox\/target-visibility-tools\">download instructions<\/a>): include the  General Target Visibility Tool (GTVT), the&nbsp;Coronagraphic Visibility Tool (CVT) and the JWST Backgrounds Tool (JBT).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ACTION # 3<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;Review of <a href=\"https:\/\/jwst-docs.stsci.edu\">available information<\/a> on the JWST Instruments and the scientific modes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1TyYEv6JcLjkRTllHujyDBKfGcbmk6R_h\/view\">link<\/a> you have access to the talks and materials that will be used in the workshop.<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In preparation for the workshop, to maximize the learning opportunities of the proposal tools and to ensure a smooth start for all the hands-on sessions it is important to complete the following actions ahead of time.
