We live in a time where communities change faster than ever. We are all connected, and that gives us a great power to improve our world. Now, more than ever, we can share our strengths and get goals that we could never have reached as individuals.<\/p>\n

In this first edition of TEDx RivasVaciamadrid we invite to think about the forces driving the change in society. To do so, we will talk about the reasons that move us to cooperate, or how science helps defend ourselves from the threats that compromise our existence. We will not forget the great visionaries, those minds able to see and imagine things, invisible to others, that have changed our world conception. Finally, looking ahead, we will wonder whether from our individuality we can contribute to increase the collective knowledge, so that we succeed in driving the change towards building a better society.<\/p>\n

Anxo S\u00e1nchez<\/a><\/h4>\n
Proffesor of Applied Mathematics at Carlos III University. He works on the applications of mathematics to biology and social sciences.<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n

Esteban Domingo<\/h4>\n

Full Professor at Centro de Biolog\u00eda Molecular Severo Ochoa. Expert in virus evolution. His main interests are to understand virus adaptation to changing environments, and to explore antiviral treatments that counteract the adaptive capacity of viruses.<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n

Ferm\u00edn Serrano<\/a><\/h4>\n
Executive Director of Ibercivis Foundation. Expert in citizen science, including deployments on volunteer computing, volunteer thinking, volunteer sensing, experimental data gathering and collective creativity.<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n
\n

Montserrat Villar<\/h4>\n

Astrophysicist at Centro de Astrobiolog\u00eda and communicator of science. Expert on active galaxies. She combines research and outreach with a great fascination for art and culture history.<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n

Susanna Manrubia<\/a><\/h4>\n
Scientist at the Centro Nacional de Biotecnolog\u00eda. She is an expert in the development of theoretical and computational descriptions of biological and cultural phenomena.<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
